Despite winning four of their first five games so far this season, Real Madrid still haven't looked fully unified and that was evident in their 1-0 loss to Real Betis on matchday four. The team have still looked somewhat disjointed, with the attackers not firing at their best and the midfield still looking particularly vulnerable, and that can be pinpointed to one absence, Aurelien Tchouameni.

The Frenchman has been out recovering from an injury suffered during the World Cup, causing Jose Mourinho to have to call on other players like Fede Valverde and Eduardo Camavinga to fill the defensive midfield role, but none have been able to replicate what Tchouameni brings to the team. This has caused the midfield to be the weak link in the team, however thankfully for Real Madrid, the Frenchman is now recovered from his injury, which comes as a major boost for Los Blancos.

Aurelien Tchouameni could finally get the ball rolling for Jose Mourinho and Real Madrid

While it is still only September and it seems early to be calling these 'crucial days' for Real Madrid, off the back of back-to-back trophyless season, Jose Mourinho and his team are under immense pressure to perform this season and haven't looked at their best so far, so a return like Tchouameni's will benefit the team not just on the pitch but off the pitch as well.

The Frenchman is the focal point of the midfield and the only true defensive midfielder in the squad, so his return will bring that solidity back to the midfield allowing players like Fede Valverde and Jude Bellingham to get back to occupying their natural positions which will bring the balance back to Jose Mourinho's team.

Tchouameni was one of Real Madrid's most important players last season, and had his strongest season at the Bernabeu so far during the 25/26 season. Even though Real have only played four games so far this season they have missed that natural defensive, deep laying presence that Tchouameni brings to the team, so to finally see him back in the squad will give a boost to Jose Mourinho, the rest of the squad, and the fans as well.

Mourinho will surely partner Tchouameni with Valverde, dropping Camavinga or Bernardo Silva who both tried to occupy that role but couldn't find much success. With Bellingham and Guler occupying the creative roles, Tchouameni staying deeper, and Valverde getting his freedom to roam forward, Jose Mourinho may finally find his perfectly balanced midfield and get the whole team firing on all cylinders with major silverware on the club's mind this season.
