Real Madrid have played three games against Barcelona this season, losing all three. The Catalans have crushed Los Blancos in every game, and the first two humiliations were significant but not expected.
The third game was slightly different. For starters, Real Madrid exerted more control over the game than they often do in such situations. Second, the fighting spirit was greatly improved than before.
However, a little error ultimately cost the Merengues not only the third El Clasico of the season but also another significant trophy that may have preserved part of their good name.
Now, in another game that will decide the title, the men in white will play Barcelona one final time this season. For Los Blancos, who have the opportunity to cut the distance between themselves and the league leaders to as little as one point, this game will be a "do or die" situation.
The Celta Vigo match on Sunday is obviously a determining factor in this.
Crucial Barcelona defender injured ahead of Real Madrid La Liga clash
The defensive line that Barcelona have established under Hansi Flick is something they are proud of. They appear to be doing a great job with the offside trap. Additionally, several of the players are the primary masterminds behind this plan.
For example, this season, Barcelona's most dependable defender is Jules Kounde. He has been an excellent acquisition. However, the player suffered a distal hamstring injury in his left leg during the first leg of the Champions League match against Inter Milan, which will exclude him from the La Liga match, much to Real Madrid's satisfaction.
The player will most likely not be participating for Real Madrid since he is anticipated to be sidelined for at least three weeks.
Kounde was a key member of the defense and scored the game-winning goal versus Madrid in the Copa Del Rey final. He has proven difficult for Vinicius Jr., who may be able to accomplish much more without him in two weeks.
