Real Madrid made a few huge acquisitions this summer transfer window, and while Bernardo Silva was overlooked for much of the window, the preseason has turned him into one of the most discussed players at the club. And many people are now remembering that Silva and Madrid's superstar striker Kylian Mbappe once worked very well together when they were first breaking out as global stars on that fairytale Monaco side in the Champions League.
Silva wasn't talked about a whole lot as a huge boon for Mbappe, but the Manchester City man coming to the Santiago Bernabeu is one of the best things Jose Mourinho and Florentino Perez could have done to help Mbappe out.
Not only do the two share a great relationship, but Silva is one of those kinds of players Mou loves a lot who is a leader and leads by example. Silva will do all the dirty work for a team to create chances, progress the ball, run his socks off, and win possession defensively.

Real Madrid have been missing these kinds of players badly over the last two seasons, and the role players had huge ego problems in the 2025/26 season, with players who are now gone like Dani Carvajal and Dani Ceballos pretty much openly mutinying on the coach and thinking like they were bigger than the club.
Even though Bernardo Silva won the treble at Manchester City and has took home countless Premier League titles as a well known, world class player in his own right, he is the opposite of a player with an ego.
Silva will do the dirty work and while he can help create the chances for Kylian Mbappe and the Real Madrid front line, he will actually help Arda Guler and Jude Bellingham focus more on producing the attacking goods for the forwards because of how much ground he will cover and how much of the midfield work he will put in to ease the responsibility and burden on the other Real Madrid midfielders.
Mbappe is going to love working with Silva again, albeit later in this career now that Silva is on the other side of so many beautiful title triumphs. Not many Real Madrid fans are talking about how much Silva impacts Mbappe, but the Frenchman and even club president Florentino Perez are soon going to see exactly why Jose Mourinho wanted Silva so badly at the Bernabeu.
