Over the last few years, we've seen several players step up and be unsung heroes for Real Madrid when they need them most. Players like Lunin, Nacho and Joselu stepped up to the plate big time for Real Madrid in the past season, helping to lead the team to incredible amounts of success.

Another player who has been an unsung hero for Real Madrid in the last few seasons is Brahim Díaz. The player returned to the club from AC Milan in the summer of 2023 and has stepped up in some key moments for Real Madrid, showing the importance he can bring to the team.

Unfortunately, Brahim hasn't had that same impact for Real Madrid this season under new manager Xabi Alonso and has fallen far into the background of the main attackers.

Brahim is currently away from Real Madrid for the African Cup of Nations, with many hoping this tournament will give him the kickstart he needs to find his best form before returning to Los Blancos. And it seems that is exactly what is happening, as Brahim has just broken a 50-year-old record for his country.

Brahim Díaz achieved something no player has in almost 50 years

As pointed out by ESPN FC, Brahim Díaz has made history at this year's AFCON tournament, becoming the first Moroccan to score in three straight games since 1976. The Real Madrid attacker has been one of the stars of the tournament and is surely on course to take home AFCON Player of the Tournament when all is said and done.

Brahim has been on fire for Morocco, bagging three goals and an assist in the three games played so far, even scoring a crucial penalty to grab a 1-1 draw with Mali on matchday two. Brahim has shown incredible quality this tournament, which has led many fans to question where this level has been for Real Madrid this season.

The Brahim for Morocco and the Brahim for Real Madrid have been two completely different players this season. He is firing on all cylinders for his country but has failed to make any impact for his club and has looked like a shadow of the player he was during his fantastic 2023/24 season when he returned to Real Madrid.

Many fans are hoping the stellar AFCON Brahim is having will be the kickstart he needs to find his form again for Real Madrid, and Xabi Alonso is surely someone who is hoping so as well.

With every attacker besides Kylian Mbappé struggling this season, Brahim returning to Real Madrid in red-hot form is exactly what Real Madrid needs to get back to the best that they showed in the early stages of the season.
