Carlo Ancelotti is Real Madrid's most successful manager of all time. The Italian has won 15 trophies with Los Blancos, the most beyond Miguel Munoz, whom he surpassed after winning the FIFA Intercontinental Cup in 2024.
He is one of the finest managers the club has ever had, and his name will definitely be associated with some of the most successful periods in Real Madrid history. However, Ancelotti has not had a very good run of late. He has experienced recurrent setbacks with the squad, the most recent being the battering the Merengues received at the hands of Arsenal.
The manager was outclassed on all tactical fronts, and he could do little to change the situation. In reality, Mikel Arteta spent no time in allowing even the smallest margin for a comeback. Ancelotti had clearly run out of ideas and plans in London.
Ancelotti marks a new but shameful record with Real Madrid
Following the humiliating defeat at Emirates Stadium, Los Blancos manager Carlo Ancelotti set a new club record. In his six seasons in the city, the manager has accumulated 50 losses. What's more troubling is that this season had the second-highest amount of defeats in a single season, with 11 losses, behind only the 2022/23 season's 12.
The figures also reveal the process that led to a fairly unsatisfactory observation. Ancelotti's first two seasons at Los Blancos, 2013/14 and 2014/15, resulted in 16 defeats. However, in the first two seasons of his second stint, he surrendered 21 defeats.
At this moment, it is clear that Ancelotti must be given the exit door before his awful records overshadow his records of victory and celebration at Real Madrid. His techniques are no longer in line with the club's mission, and they are plainly obsolete and unfit for the current group of players.
A new manager that appreciates the urgency and enormous opportunity of releasing the power of this world-class squad is urgently required.
