Most of the transfer talk surrounding Real Madrid this summer has been about which midfielder are they going to sign to help solve the issues they have been having for the last two years. The club seems to have landed on Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez as their dream midfield signing however one major stumbling block is still in the way, the price. It seems a different number is thrown out every week, but we now know exaclty what Chelsea are looking for, and spoiler alert, it's not cheap.

As being reported by MadridXtra on X, Chelsea are prepared to sell Enzo Fernandez this summer, only if a club pays €140 million to secure the midfielders signature. Chelsea paid €120 million to sign Enzo from Benfica back in January of 2023, with Chelsea believing that now three years later he is worth more following his time at Stamford Bridge.

Real Madrid will have to pay a pretty penny to land Enzo

The 25-year-old has long been a topic at Real Madrid and it makes sense why. Following Chelsea's less than ideal 10th place finish this season, major changes are expected to take place at Stanford Bridge, and with Enzo himself not shying away from expressing his desires to one day play for Real Madrid, now could finally be the time for a deal to become reality.

Real Madrid views Enzo as the perfect midfielder that they have been missing ever since the departures of Toni Kroos and Luka Modric, with his wide passing range, composure on the ball, smart decision making , high midfield IQ, and the intensity he brings as exactly what they need to solve all the issues the midfield is having. Enzo is playing like a man who wants his dream move, having a strong first two games for Argentina so far at the World Cup.

Now while a move for Enzo sounds like a dream, that €140 million price tag could prove difficult for Real Madrid. While Florentino Perez claims there are plenty of fund to make such a big signing, departure will no doubt still be needed to raise some funds and free up wages before any move for Enzo can realistically be made.

The good news for Real Madrid though is it is still the early days of the summer transfer window so the club has plenty of time to get some sales done and bring in the funds to afford the €140 million that Chelsea are asking for. It sure seems Enzo will end up at the Bernabeu this season with the only question being, will Real Madrid really make him the fifth most expensive signing ever? Only time will tell.
