Mourinho is a huge believer in Tchouameni as a player, as a leader, and as a fighter, and it is those personal traits that mean the most to the rabid manager of treble winning fame.
To prove his belief in Tchouameni, Mourinho sanctioned a big contract for the French midfielder, who will remain in Madrid through the 2030/31 season and is 100 percent sold on the club and the values of it. Now, it is up to him to fight.
Tchoaumeni had a difficult 2025/26 season, but he has an even bigger believer than even Mourinho or anyone else at Real Madrid. The greatest No. 6 for Mourinho who revolutionized the position as the unsung hero of the Galactic Real Madrid - and then left to join Jose with Chelsea as the bedrock of their growing juggernaut, leaving Real in ruin upon his exit - is here to tell the world that Tchouameni is the truth.
Tchouameni is building believers
French legend Claude Makelele declared to DAZN, via Madrid Xtra, that not only will Aurelien Tchouameni 100 percent be a key player for his own former manager Jose Mourinho, but he also boldly claimed that Tchou was the only consistent star for the Merengues in that 2025/26 season.
Makelele said of the former Monaco man, “Tchouameni’s renewal? Jose Mourinho is not stupid. Tchouameni was the only consistent player for Real Madrid last season from start to finish. He will be a key player in Mourinho’s project.”
Real Madrid need Tchouameni to be as good as Makelele and Mourinho are advertising. They need that world class No. 6 anchoring the midfield to help the attackers truly flourish, and fans could see that was missing in the fabric of the club these last two seasons without trophies.
Tchouameni is that guy for France and has the quality to be that guy for Madrid in 2026/27. He needs Mourinho to help bring that true fire out of him, yes, but he must also bring it out of himself. A little advice from Makelele could not hurt either, and with the backing of Makelele and this clear message sent to everyone at Madrid, a truly big breakout year could finally be coming for Tchou. Though, if you ask Makelele, the young man is already on top.
