Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho has been making some big calls at the White House this summer, bringing in Ibrahima Konate, Marc Cucurella, and Denzel Dumfries to help overhaul the defense. And after landing Bernardo Silva, he and the Real Madrid execs have also helped turn Florentino Perez's opinion on a Mancheste City star, with Real getting closer to signing World Cup Golden Ball winner Rodri.
Right now, though, the hottest topic around Real Madrid is not Rodri or even another center back for Mourinho, but rather the Portuguese manager requesting a young, world class winger in Yan Diomande. Real Madrid were highly interested in Florentino's latest obsession, Bayern Munich's Michael Olise, but despite the right winger's high degree of interest in Madrid, too, a deal looks impossible thanks to the Bavarian giants.
So now, Real Madrid are turning their attention to Diomande in full. But if Real were to sell off or otherwise clear out space in the attack, they could potentially land Olise, too, particularly if they are able to make a profit on a sellable player.
Jose Mourinho is not without controversy
Since Jose Mourinho and Real Madrid do not want to lose the rights to promising young strikers Gonzalo Garcia and Endrick, who are more likely to be loan candidates like Franco Mastantuono, Moroccan World Cup standout Brahim Diaz has largely been tabbed as the one to be sold.
But according to a report from Real Madrid insider Ben Fernandes Santos, depite widespread interest in the player, Brahim does not look like he is going to go this summer transfer window. Santos says that, as already reported, Luciano Spalletti and Juventus are interested in Brahim, as are clubs with even more money to burn on a World Cup and 2023/24 Champions League hero. He reports that Galatasaray and Saudi Pro League sides have also looked at Brahim.
However, the key is that Jose Mourinho himself wants to keep Brahim. Mourinho sees Brahim as an ideal "joker" as someone who can make things happen as a No. 10 or a right winger, and he wants him around as a key backup in the squad next season, preferring not to sell. Santos says that Mourinho "counts on him" in 2026.
That means Real Madrid have potentially 50 million euros less coming in, one less veteran spot in the squad to fill, and a much more difficult chance of adding Michael Olise to Yan Diomande in a dream double swoop that many fans and even some within the Valdebebas are dreaming of.
