As with the past few seasons, Real Madrid have a dilemma on their hands. They have several players on expiring contracts and have to decide whether to offer them new contracts or let them leave for the next chapter of their careers.
Players like David Alaba, Antonio Rudiger, and Dani Carvajal all have six months left on their contracts, and Madrid's decision-makers have to make up their minds over who stays and who goes in the summer. Alaba seems all but confirmed to leave, given his wages and recent injury history, and the club has decided not to offer him a renewal.
As for Carvajal and Rudiger, no concrete decision has been made yet. Carvajal could realistically remain at the club as a backup to Trent Alexander-Arnold, but whether he'd accept that role remains to be seen. As for Rudiger, his time at the club is looking like it will come to an end this summer, as the club has yet to offer him an extension. Where exactly he could end up remains unknown, but Cristiano Ronaldo could look to do business with his former club.
Cristiano Ronaldo could save Real Madrid from dilemma over struggling star
As reported by GOAL, Cristiano Ronaldo is heavily pushing for his Al Nassr side to sign Real Madrid center-back Antonio Rudiger as a free agent after his contract with Los Blancos expires this summer.
Rudiger arrived in the summer of 2022 as a free agent from Chelsea, and it now seems he will be departing the club the same way he arrived, as the club doesn't currently plan on offering the German a new contract.
This is where Ronaldo could come in to save his former club with a potential headache over the defender. Ronaldo has been the key man in bringing some of Europe's top stars to Al Nassr, and after adding former Barcelona defender Inigo Martinez this past summer, he will look to make Rudiger the next high-profile name he brings to his side.
The 32-year-old has been a loyal servant to the club in the short time he's been a Merengue adding the passion and intensity the backline has been missing since the departure of Sergio Ramos. However over the last few years Rudiger has been struggling with injuries and while he is still good for a solid performance, he is very much losing his spot to the younger defenders like Dean Huijsen and Raul Asencio.
