Real Madrid are presenting their newest signings this week. It was reported that Dean Huijsen will be presented on Tuesday, June 10 - which is happening.
It was also reported that their other signing, Trent Alexander-Arnold, will be presented on Thursday, and while that has not been confirmed, it is expected to happen.
Real Madrid will attain Huijsen's services in defense for the inaugural Club World Cup tournament that is set to take place in a week's time in the United States of America.
Real Madrid will need those services, because new manager Xabi Alonso will not have a number of players available - although some may return in time.
After a lot of speculation, it is also finally confirmed what number Huijsen will wear for Alonso at the Club World Cup.
Dean Huijsen's Real Madrid kit number has been finally revealed
In his presentation, the new signing was seen holding a picture of his jersey, and it said the number 24 under his name.
It was kind of expected - people do assume Alexander-Arnold will be taking the number 12, which suits a full-back more than a central defender, leaving 24 completely free.
It is not yet revealed why Huijsen went for 24 and not, say, 18 or 25.
My assumption is that Huijsen wanted the number 4 somewhere in there, because of his idol Sergio Ramos. It would make complete sense in that way, because he has always said in the past that Ramos was his idol growing up, and has always called Ramos as the best in history.
David Alaba currently occupies Ramos' old number, so it would not have been possible for Huijsen to take it. Arda Guler occupies Ramos' national team number, so the only option left was to take something that had 4 in it.
Obviously, I do not know the actual reason. Not yet, anyway, but if it is this, then it makes sense.
