Real Madrid's newest winger, Yan Diomande, talked about the conversation that he had with Didier Drogba when the youngster joined Real Madrid.
Drogba has never played for Real Madrid, but he has played under Jose Mourinho, and that was what the entire conversation was about.
Diomande revealed what the legendary striker said about Mourinho in a recent interview.
He said: "I talked with Didier Drogba a few days ago. He told me, ‘Be careful, Mourinho, he’s my father. You have to work hard, but he’s a good guy.''
It sounds about right, to be honest.
Jose Mourinho makes his players work hard, but he protects them well, too
Mourinho is a strong personality. He is very hard on his players, but also makes a very deep connection with all of them, well, most of them.
He obviously has such a good connection with some of his players that Drogba literally called him his father.
And it is also true that Mourinho loves to push his players to the absolute limit and makes you work really hard, which is something that will undoubtedly happen with this group of Real Madrid players as well.
But Mourinho also has a soft side to him.
He knows how to build relationships from the start, and there are so many players that have given their testimony about Mourinho being one of the nicest guys they've ever played under and one of the people they've had the biggest connections with, because Mourinho just instills that certainness and relationship with most of the players that play under him.
Yan Diomande looks tailor-made to be a Jose Mourinho player, and there's no surprise why
I have a sneaky feeling Mourinho will absolutely adore Diomande.
He's already shown that he's not afraid to work hard. He constantly tracks back. He runs as much as the manager needs him to, and it is something that is desperately needed at Real Madrid.
Obviously, Diomande has offensive talent as well, which has turned him into the brilliantly talented player he is today, which is why the club has paid as much money as they have for him.
But because of his defensive attributes, he will become one of Mourinho's favorite players, and it will be really cool to watch how he takes Diomande under his wing and develops him for the future.
There are many players that Mourinho will have a great time working with, and the youngster is certainly one of them. He already showed some flashes on Saturday night, as well as in a friendly a few days before that - and it'll be great to see that bond develop.
