Enrique Riquelme has been making some bold claims on his campaign trail in an attempt to make a last minute push to win the presidency. His claims that he will never sell to external investors, he has already signed Haaland and Rodri, and if neither of those happen that he will pay all the membership fees for all 100,000+ club members has made him quite the headline grabber this week. However there is another plan in the mind of Riquelme, one that could cause the club and the fans to riot.

As being reported by theMadridZone on X, sources close to Enrique Riquelme say he plans to sell Vinicius Jr should he win the presidential elections, however he is not admitting it publicly. Riquelme has already stated his plans to sign Haaland meaning the Brazilian could be the odd man out and as a result won't be in the plans of the new president should he win.

Riquelme plans to say bye to Vinicius Jr

Rumors of selling Vinicus have been talked about a few times over the last few years however there has never been much behind those rumors, however Riquelme plans to make those rumors become a reality. As mentioned ealier Riquelme has claimed he has signed Erling Haaland should he win the elections meaning Real Madrid would have all of Haaland, Mbappe, and Vinicius Jr in the attack and trying to fit all three into the same team isn't going to happen so someone would have to go, and all signs would point to Vinicius.

The Brazilian is out of contract in the summer of 2027 and the two parties have reportedly hit some stumbling blocks in negotiations over a new deal, leaving some questions to be asked about his future. Losing a player like Vinicius as a free agent would be a huge blow to Real Madrid so Riquelme could cash in on the player before his contract runs out.

The past two seasons haven't been the best from Vinicius Jr however he picked it up towards the end of this past season, showing that he still has the quality to be the main man in the attack like we saw in 21/22, 22/23, and 23/24. The Brazilian grabbed 22 goals and 14 assists in 53 games across all competitions for Real Madrid this season, and as much as he may frustrate the fans at times, he is still one of the key players in the team.

Enrique Riquelme has been making some fantastical claims on his presidetial trail but in the end all signs point to Florentino Perez coming out on top once again, and with how much Perez loves Vinicius, the Brazilian will surely be staying at Real Madrid for many years to come.
