Enzo Fernandez is dreaming of a Real Madrid transfer. He is obviously far from the only player who has ambitions of making it to the Santiago Bernabeu, and as powerful as the Premier League is getting in terms of finances and commerical deals, it only feels like Madrid's pull amongst the elite footballers is growing.
Another great Premier League defensive midfielder wants Real Madrid, too, in Rodri, and the Spanish international has been even more public about wanting to bolt to his one time crosstown rivals while he was at Atletico Madrid.
But Real Madrid seem much more keen on Enzo. However, according to a new report from veteran Real Madrid insider Jorge C. Picon, the Chelsea star is "unfeasible" for Los Blancos at this time from an economic perspective. Picon reports that while Fernandez has recently become more public about a desire to move to Madrid that has always been there, his wishes are unlikely to be met due to the economic realities the club face. They cannot afford to spend upwards of 100 million euros on the midfielder, and even those close to Enzo admit that a deal is almost impossible, especially with Chelsea holding all the cards after Enzo signed a contract through 2032 with the Blues.
Enzo Fernandez to Real Madrid is almost impossible
People seem to forget that part of Todd Boehly's strategy with spending big on all these young players in the hopes that they would become future superstars was the fact that he tied them all down to long term contracts, locking in control for years in case even bigger clubs like Real Madrid and Barcelona tried to convince them.
Enzo Fernandez will always be a topic for Real Madrid, but it may be an unrequieted love unless something substantial happens like a new Chelsea manager suddenly wanting Fernandez out, Enzo going on a major strike to push for a move, or Chelsea being open to a more modest fee to help facilitate a player they like more in the defensive midfield position next to Moises Caicedo.
Since Real Madrid can pivot to Adam Wharton or even Rodri, Enzo being an unrealistic option is less of a blow to the Madrid fans who are probably not 100 percent convinced with the former Benfica man and is more of a blow to Enzo himself, given he is very clearly dreaming of that major move to the Santiago Bernabeu in the near future.
