As Real Madrid center midfielders Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga continue to be linked with moves elsewhere, Jose Mourinho is working hard to get Florentino Perez to make a blockbuster move for a star center midfielder to replace one of them, in addition to Flo's work in the background to try to tempt French superstar Michael Olise to join forces with Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior.
The main target for Mourinho and Real Madrid has become Enzo Fernandez of Chelsea, especially after Tottenham Hotspur accelerated and closed deals for their dream targets Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes for a combined 185 million pounds.
Enzo alone may not be that much cheaper than both of those players, but the 2022 World Cup winner is an even better footballer with his ability to defend, control the pitch, and even score goals. On paper, Enzo at his best is the perfect Real Madrid No. 6.
Real Madrid can drive the Enzo Fernandez talks
It has been clear to Real Madrid fans that Enzo is dreaming of a move to the Santiago Bernabeu and wants out. And his agent Javier Pastore, a former Palermo and PSG star midfielder, just confirmed that he and Enzo Fernandez are actively working their way out of London in an interview with MARCA, via the Madrid Zone.
Pastore confirmed that “We are looking at options to leave Chelsea,” and admitted that Fernandez has been spending a lot of time in Madrid with compatriot Julian Alvarez, who plays for rivals Atletico Madrid and was linked to Real Madrid previously, and that he loves it in the Spanish capital.
Real Madrid fans have seen enough winks from Enzo to not be surprised at all by the public declaration from Pastore that the Chelsea center midfielder wants out, as well as the wink from the agent that Madrid is the place to be.
What Real Madrid fans want to see is Florentino Perez getting at the negotiating table and getting a deal over the line, especially one that does not cost Los Blancos an arm and a leg. Chelsea spent a record 121 million euros on Enzo from Benfica a few years ago, and if Real Madrid can get the star midfielder for around that, then that would honestly be a great deal, especially since Real can get more out of Enzo than Chelsea did with how they play.
Xabi Alonso, the new Chelsea manager and the Real Madrid manager in the first half of the previous season, wants to keep Enzo, but since the player is clearly wanting out, that does not matter. As Real fans have been confident, they are in the driver's seat here.
