Real Madrid signed six players in the summer transfer window in the hopes of greatly improving on a disappointing season last time around - and so far, that has not happened. Real Madrid already find themselves six points behind Barcelona after just seven games in the league, and it will be interesting to see how they are able to close the deficit down.

To be absolutely clear, it is not because of these signings individually that Real Madrid are sorely lacking behind, but the idea is for them to help the team close the gap between their biggest rivals.

Besides, there have been a few players who have filled profiles that Real Madrid needed, and although there have been a couple who haven't done well enough so far, the season is quite long and hopefully, they are able to positively contribute.

Here are the six players Real Madrid signed in the summer, ranked from worst to best a month after the end of the transfer window.

6. Denzel Dumfries

Dumfries has been a pretty poor signing for Real Madrid so far. He has all the talent and skill in the world, and yet, he has not been able to deliver as well as he would have hoped.

It is not like Dumfries has not played, either - in fact, despite playing poorly, he has taken Trent Alexander Arnold's place in the starting XI, even though the Englishman has been the better player. His work for the Netherlands was great in the international break, though, and hopefully, that is a sign of things to come.

5. Yan Diomande

Diomande has had a couple of good performances for Real Madrid, but he has barely played. Jose Mourinho has decided to ease him into the squad, which has resulted in very limited minutes for the Ivory Coast international. Whenever he has played, he hasn't looked that convincing. It makes sense - he is very young after all, but hopefully this changes soon.

4. Marc Cucurella

Cucurella has had some good games and some bad ones. He has been much better and more consistent for Spain, which is something he can replicate in the near future for his club as well. As of now, though, he has not been the best signing Real Madrid have made this season - but far from the worst, too.

3. Carlos Espi

What a player and character. Espi has scored two goals in very limited minutes for Real Madrid already, and is showing exactly what the club bought him for. They wanted more production from the bench, and right from the start, Espi has started doing just that. Hopefully it continues, and hopefully Espi also gets a few starts here and there.

2. Bernardo Silva

Silva has been a great presence in Real Madrid's midfield, and has looked like a profile the club should have signed a year ago. Silva loves having the ball, which is an improvement on all midfielders who play in a deeper role for the club.

Silva has been on the bench for quite a few of these games, which is the only reason why he is not number one on the list.

1. Ibrahima Konate

Everyone was expecting Konate to be a bad signing after his season of hell for Liverpool last time around, but he has performed excellently in most of his games so far. Even against Atletico Madrid, he was one of the team's better players, and has just been the most consistent out of the six incomings so far. Great player.
