Everybody knows the real reason Real Madrid is so stubborn this January transfer window

It wouldn't be a typical Real Madrid season if the squad wasn't picked to the bone with injuries. A number of key players have been sidelined with injuries, leaving Xabi Alonso with a thin squad at his disposal on any given matchday which has been a major reason for some of the recent slip ups.

The backline in particular has been ravaged by injuries, with Alvaro Carreras being the only regular starter yet to go down with an injury (knock on wood). Alonso is down to his second choice center-backs, Raul Asencio and Antonio Rudiger, and has had to use Federico Valverde at right-back with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dani Carvajal out injured.

Given it is the January transfer window and other clubs around Europe are making signings to strengthen their squads, many have been calling on Madrid to do the same if they have any hope of bringing trophies back to the Bernabeu this season. However, unfortunately, the club seems to have made up their minds on new signings this month, and it's one that won't please fans.

Why Real Madrid aren't willing to do January business

As being reported by Marca (via theMadridZone on X) Real Madrid have decided that NO signings will be made this January transfer window despite anything that happens, and the club won't be changing their minds on that decision.

The club believes that once all the injured players return to the team, the squad will look much better and that no signings are needed right now. While many believe the signing of a midfielder or a defender is desperately needed, to play devil's advocate, there are a number of key starting players out injured right now, who, once back to full fitness, will have a major impact on the team.

Players like Alexander-Arnold, Eder Militao, Dean Huijsen, and Carvajal, all key to Alonso, are out injured, making the squad look thinner and weaker than it actually is. Once they're back from injury, the squad will be much stronger than what Alonso currently has at his disposal, so making a big-money January signing may not make the most sense if it's just to patch a hole left by a player out with an injury who will be back soon.

Madrid has historically never been very active in the January window, and this year is no different. The club has its sights set on the summer transfer window for bringing in recruitments as they continue to look for their Toni Kroos replacement and their perfect centre-back to complete their transition completely to the new generation of Los Blancos.
