RB Leipzig star winger Yan Diomande is seen by Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho as an important signing to add a much needed dimension to the attack, and after a sensational first and only season in the Bundesliga in which he had 20 goal contributions leading the worst Leipzig team in years, Diomande is ready to make a blockbuster move to the Santiago Bernabeu for around 120 million euros.
It is a steep price to pay, but as a 19 year old who did what he did in the German top flight and was nearly on the level of Bayern Munich's Ballon d'Or candidate Michael Olise, it may prove to be as much of a bargain as Jude Bellingham's 100 million euro signing to Madrid in 2023 in the long run.
But with Fabrizio Romano, who originally reported that the Diomande move was done, and Florian Plettenberg going back on if the move is finalized, some Madridistas are worried about the deal actually being completed ofifically, even as PSG, who previously had a personal agreement with Diomande for weeks, pulled out.
No need to worry about Diomande now
Romano has clarified why Diomande has not joined on his YouTube channel, and in doing so, he has said what Real Madrid fans already assumed in connecting the dots: RB Leipzig are waiting to finalize a replacement for the Ivory Coast superstar before formally announcing and releasing Yan Diomande to the biggest club in the world.
Fab said, via the Madrid Zone, "I'm getting a lot of questions asking why isn't Yan Diomande's move to Real Madrid official yet. There is a sense from those close to the deal, that maybe RB Leipzig want to sign a replacement before officially announcing the deal for Yan Diomandé. The deal is done."
That is a pretty emphatic statement from Fabrizio Romano, and he is only doubling down on his reporting that has been pretty consistent over the past couple of days: Diomande is coming to Real Madrid.
It will be curious, then, to see who RB Leipzig pick out as their replacement for a player the caliber of Diomande and under what timeline, since, per Fab, it appears that new signing is the contingency that Leipzig need in order to officially let Diomande go to his dream club. But as of right now, there is no need for the Madridistas to wory about Diomande; the 19 year old ace is coming to the Santiago Bernabeu.
