For the past several months, there have been so many on and off again rumors regarding Vinicius Junior's impending contract extension with Real Madrid. There have been false alarms of a signing, conflicting reports that Vinicius Jr. wants more money, and then clarifications to those conflictions that the fault is on the agents of the Brazilian superstar, rather than an inkling of the player himself.

There is no questioning Vini's importance to Real over the years. He was a star in two Champions League title triumphs and is one of the best players in the modern Champions League, particularly with regards to his ability to create chances and havoc in the biggest games.

But lately, his importance and concistency have waned, and since the arrival of another Florentino Perez gem in Kylian Mbappe, Vini Jr. has cut a frustrated figure, even playing a pivotal role in the firing of promising young manager - and former Real Madrid icon - Xabi Alonso.

Florentino Perez wants Vinicius Jr. to stay

In his latest transfer news update, top insider Fabrizio Romano reports that Florentino Perez personally wants Vinicius Junior to renew with Real Madrid. The desire from the Merengue president to keep Vini has not diminished at all. It is a personal desire of Perez's, and the current contract renewal offer from Madrid remains on the table for Vinicius, with Fab reminding fans that Flo had supported the left winger during his squabble behind the scenes - and out in public - with the former manager Alonso.

There are rumblings in the Spanish press that Vinicius Jr., potentially driven by his agents, wants more money, which Fabrizio Romano did not get into during his reporting. However, he is abundantly clear that from the perspective of Florentino - and therefore the club itself - Vinicius is very much wanted in Madrid.

Since there are always going to be transfer rumors around star players, especially ones who seem as outwardly disgruntled as Vinicius during this apparent power struggle of forwards with Kylian Mbappe, this report from Fab is important in dispelling them. The idea that Vini is on the shopping block for Chelsea, PSG, or someone else could not be further from the mark; Florentino wants and has always wanted Vinicius Jr. at Real Madrid.

It really is just a question of time and Vini coming to his senses. Because if this is the ploy from the agents, then Vini has to quit hiding behind them. They work for him - not the other way around.
