After recording 12 goal contributions in 16 appearances for Lyon in a half season on loan to prove his worth as a top young player in world football, Endrick is officially back at Real Madrid and gearing up for a bigger role in the 2026/27 season after being pretty much discarded by Xabi Alonso in 2025/26 before he even got a chance to show his worth.
Endrick joined Real Madrid with a lot of fanfare and hype from Palmeiras, even showing his unique gifts with a great goal scoring record in the Copa del Rey during his debut season in 2024/25 under Carlo Ancelotti. But it wasn't until this loan spell at Lyon in which Endrick showed real world class ability with regular playing time.
There are high hopes for Endrick heading into the 2026/27 season. He is officially a part of Real Madrid legend Carlo Ancelotti's first team squad for the 2026 World Cup, and with Kylian Mbappe both playing poorly and causing controversy in public, incoming manager Jose Mourinho may have a short leash to giving Endrick a run at striker, especially if Gonzalo Garcia goes to, say, Borussia Dortmund next season and doesn't compete with the Brazilian phenom.
Endrick is one to watch
And Endrick has even more reason to believe he is ticketed for a big role at Real Madrid. In addition to reporting that the club view an important role for the Brazilian next season, transfer insider Fabrizio Romano reported on his YouTube channel that Mourinho likes the player, too.
That simple endorsement from Jose Mourinho is massive. Endrick has been a bit of a polarizing player for managers in his young career, with Xabi Alonso not caring for him at all, Ancelotti needing some time to warm up to him, and even Lyon manager Paulo Fonseca initially disliking Endrick before admitting how obscenely good the teenager is.
With 2.3 dribbles completed and 1.9 key passes per game in Ligue 1 during the 2025/26 season, Endrick showed that he is more than just goals and assists. He is a complete player at the striker position, and in addition to his dynamism and hunger, Endrick's ability to create for others and break games open with his dribbling ability are likely other reasons why Mourinho is reportedly among those who are high on the Palmeiras product's quality. If Mou is a fan of Endrick, his chances of competing with Kylian Mbappe are going to go up dramatically.
