With 12 goals and 8 assists for RB Leipzig in his first Bundesliga campaign, star winger Yan Diomande sent a message to the rest of the world that he means business and is a superstar in the making. And though Real Madrid were not one of the clubs interested in him. the most, Jose Mourinho has cahnged all that by requesting the signing of the speedy and versatile winger.
Before Real entered the race, PSG were actually seen as the favorites to sign the 19 year old sensation. In fact, Diomande told his agency ROC Nation that he only wanted PSG and to reject everyone else, including Liverpool, who were prominently going after the Ivory Coast international as their Cody Gakpo (and really Luis Diaz) replacement.
But although Real Madrid are trying to hijack the deal and have a verbal agreement of their own with Diomande, PSG are not giving up. According to information from Fabrizio Romano, PSG have tried to reenter the transfer battle for Yan Diomande in order to challenge Real Madrid for the player, and they are not giving up on the elite young winger.

That being said, Romano has some resassurance for Madridistas. He says that with how strongly Real Madrid have gone in for Diomande in the last hours, they have made big progress for him.
That implies that while PSG are not dead yet in the race, Real Madrid are the favorites now, which makes sense because of both the momentum they have accrued now and the fact that it is no secret that Diomande was a Real Madrid fan as a youngster - and idolized Cristiano Ronaldo.
But Real Madrid have not signed Diomande yet. And just like PSG, they both now have verbal agreements with the player but still must reach an agreement with RB Leipzig on the actual transfer itself. And that means that it is fair game for both clubs, since PSG were the ones who had been in this position for weeks but just struggled to close the deal on financial terms.
What Real Madrid have to worry about here is if the interest they have in Diomande ends up getting PSG to be more serious and finally offer the money Leipzig are looking for. Then, in that case, if Diomande is just as happy to join PSG and be with the back to back Champions League winners, then it is back to square one for Madrid.
