Real Madrid seemed to have Michael Olise picked out as their main Galactic target, and after the World Cup ended, there was immediately a surge in reports from around Europe, even in France and Germany, that the Bayern Munich right winger was choosing to transfer to Real after speaking with Kylian Mbappe and Aurelien Tchouameni a lot during the World Cup.
That got Real Madrid fans all excited, but, now, there has been a sudden twist in the story, as Jose Mourinho has specifically requested the signing of another great Bundesliga winger in the younger Yan Diomande, another World Cup darling.
Diomande is just as good of a signing as Olise and a lot cheaper, and now fans are wondering if Olise even has a path to Real Madrid in the future. But according to Fabrizio Romano, Madridistas should not completely close the door on the Bayern Munich superstar just yet.
Real Madrid are not done with Michael Olise
Romano says that while Michael Olise is indeed the dream target of Florentino Perez, Real Madrid genuinely feel like Bayern Munich do not want to sell the player at all. They will not even make a bid for Olise unless if Bayern tell Real personally that they are open to selling, out of respect for Bayern. Therefore, Fab says that Real Madrid have made the call to go for Yan Diomande instead, but they will still be open to Olise in the future if Bayern are willing to sell at that time.
It makes 100 percent sense for Florentino and Real Madrid to take this strategy with Olise, and fans will prefer this over all the other options. Because Madridistas do want to maintain a strong, positive relationship with Bayern Munich, as a few important players to Champions League titles have come from there, most especially Toni Kroos in the midfield.
Yan Diomande is a wonderful player and fits the usual Real Madrid strategy of signing a footballer before they become one of the best in the world. Like Jude Bellingham, Diomande will cost nine figures in a transfer fee, but also like Bellingham, he has the potential to make that look like a steal in the future.
Real Madrid have not closed the door at all on Olise, and signing Diomande does not stop them from signing Olise. It would be weird to have Olise, Vincius Junior, and Diomande all in the same squad, and finding minutes for all of them would be tough. But that is a problem for the future.
