Real Madrid fans totally got their hopes up, thinking they had any legitimate chance at signing the most valuable, at least in terms of transfer value, player fom Bayern Munich in right winger Michael Olise, who may have legitimately become president Florentino Perez's new transfer obsession during the Champions League quarterfinals after he eviscerated Alvaro Carreras and the defense for all the world to see.

Olise is a special player, and he has always been a special player. The left footed right winger can do it all and is one of the best chance creators in the world while cutting inside and scoring almost as if he is a spitting image of Arjen Robben in those tight spaces.

Florentino Perez said he would make a play for a 150 million euro Galactico, but Real Madrid never actually went in for Olise. Just as they said months ago when the rumors first poppd up, Bayern Munich had zero intention of selling Olise to Real Madrid for any price - not 150 million euros and not even 200 million euros.

Real Madrid baited their fans with Michael Olise

In his final transfer news update on the Olise saga that was not really even a story, Fabrizio Romano revealed, as quoted by the Madrid Zone, that the Frenchman is staying at Bayern Munich and that Die Roten outright refuse to sell, "At the moment, the feeling is that Michael Olise will stay at Bayern Munich. It will be very, very difficult for Real Madrid to agree a deal with Bayern, because they refuse to sell. Let's see if Real Madrid still want to try, or move to another option, which is also a possibility."

Judging by the bid for Atletico Madrid star striker Julian Alvarez and the very public rejection from Los Rojiblancos, Real Madrid did, in fact, move on to another option so that Florentino could say he bid 150 million euros for a Galactico, rather than, as many Madridistas had thought, legitimately challenging what Bayern were saying about their willingness to sell Michael Olise.

The reality is sinking in for Real Madrid fans that Olise was a dangled carrot by the club in the media to appease the fans around the election time, rather than being a legitimate transfer target whom Perez was willing to spash 200 million euros on or otherwise compete for.

Understandably, Bayern were not going to sell their star winger and one of the world's best players to a direct Champions League rival for anything less than an insane fee. So if Perez was never going to do that, why even get the hopes up the fans up? He can say he denied it in public, but the media reports from all aroun the globe show that this was nothing more than another ploy from Madrid.
