Real Madrid star left winger Vinicius Junior had a brilliant World Cup on an individual level, but he does not care about that one bit. Vini has spent the last week apologizing to the nation of Brazil on behalf of his teammates after an atrocious loss to Erling Haaland's Norway, even though Vini himself was excellent and many of his silent teammates who played like cowards unfit for the Selecao should actually be the ones apologizing in droves.
As Vinicius Jr. comes off a great World Cup, he knows he has to get to work quickly, because it will be all business this season for Real Madrid. The Merengues are in crisis mode after not winning any titles for two seasons in a row, and nothing but winning the league or Champions League will be tolerated.
Jose Mourinho is now in the building and eager to work with Vinicius, and now Real Madrid are determined to finally clear the air on a contract situation that should have been resolved a long time ago. Real have been run embarrassingly poor these last couple of years, with Vini going into 2026/27 on an expiring contract standing out as another reason why Madridistas are not happy with what the club is doing.
The Vinicius deal is coming soon
But Fabrizio Romano reports that Real Madrid and Vinicius Junior will be in touch with each other on getting a contract renewal done very soon. And as he already reported, Fab is maintaining that Madrid want to find a solution for Vinicius as soon as possible.
That solution is a contract extension. Although Florentino Perez is obsessed with France's Ballon d'Or candidate Michael Olise, the man is untouchable at Bayern Munich - and it would be insane for Real Madrid not to keep a two time Champions League winner in Vinicius Jr. before throwing around 200 million euro plus bids on Olise.
Real Madrid should have extended Vini and paid him what he was worth last year, and had they showed they valued Vini more then, maybe they could have avoided some of the drama that took place during the 2025/26 season, including the same old unreliable transfer links to Premier League powerhouses.
Vinicius is staying in Madrid, and Real may finally be getting serious about keeping one of their three biggest gems at the club for the long haul. Madridistas will expect nothing less from Florentino and the club this summer.
