Real Madrid have struck a deal for RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, with Fabrizio Romano reporting a full agreement on the final transfer fee between the La Liga and Bundesliga giants. Diomande's deal has been closed after just around a day of interest from Real, with Florentino Perez and the club acting as swiftly as they did with Bernardo Silva and Marc Cucurella to sign another player that Jose Mourinho badly wanted at any reasonable cost.
Diomande joins Real Madrid at a time when the club were going hard after Michael Olise but realized that the Frenchman would not be coming due to Bayern Munich's hesitancy. So now, Los Blancos have brought in a player five years younger who was just as excellent in the Bundesliga last season.
But the Diomande blockbuster now has one major consequence for the Royal White club. Per Fabrizio Romano, back to back Champions League winners PSG are not just upset with the intermediaries and agents involved in the Diomande transfer, as they stated in a public statement on the move, but they are also upset with Real Madrid.
Real Madrid won't care one bit
Fab said, via Madrid Xtra, “PSG are very disappointed with Real Madrid. They did not expect this surprise. Both clubs had issues in the past due to Kylian Mbappé’s story, and now because of Yan Diomandé.”
Real Madrid and PSG were very bitter rivals around the 2021/22 season during the peak of the Kylian Mbappe saga and the famous Champions League Round of 16 Remontada, and that continued up until the Mbappe signing. But when PSG took over from Real Madrid as the Champions of Europe that Cold War seemed to end, and just last season, Madrid fans even saw Florentino Perez and PSG president Nasser Al Khalaifi sitting together at games and in friendly relations, which was unthinkable around three to five years ago.
Now, Real Madrid have made PSG their enemies again, which will make it even more impossible to sign top players from them. But it's not like they were able to before either. The Kylian Mbappe saga was outrageous, but even big stars like Vitinha and Joao Neves these days whom Real Madrid would love to sign are impossible to touch.
PSG should not be mad at Real Madrid. Yan Diomande wanted Madrid, not them, and PSG had weeks and every equal opportunity to strike a deal with RB Leipzig. They simply didn't, because they did not present a serious enough offer. And Diomande is worth PSG being mad about, for sure.
