After a tremendous career, Lucas Vazquez finally said goodbye to the pitch that has served him well, the Santiago Bernabeu. While he awaits his next playing opportunity, his time at Real Madrid is over.
The full-back leaves the Spanish capital as an incredibly decorated player. Despite sometimes operating on a rotational capacity, nobody can deny the heavy collection of medals he'll be leaving with.
One face was at his farewell conference, and it says everything about him.
Two Real Madrid players were at the Lucas Vazquez farewell
Marcelo was one of the professionals in attendance at Lucas Vazquez' farewell conference. The legendary Brazilian knows a thing or two about being a Hall-of-Fame Real Madrid full-back.
Alongside Marcelo, current Real Madrid players Andriy Lunin and Kylian Mbappe were in attendance. They were the only two members of the current roster who attended, the rest using their vacation days.
Of course, the fact that there were only two Real Madrid players in attendance is bound to cause an uproar, but Real Madrid fans understand the use of vacation after a hectic season.
Nevertheless, Marcelo provided more than enough support.
Marcelo proves his supportive character yet again
Marcelo is arguably more active at Real Madrid events now than he was when he played. This is a testament to his character, as he isn't shy to provide support to those around him.
Everybody knows Marcelo is a nice guy - This is an understatement, and he doesn't need to do anything further to prove that. But he will continue to attend events like this, which put others in the spotlight, and he'll do so with nothing to gain except the feeling of supporting others.
So, while there is going to be an uproar from fans and journalists on social media, we need to be putting more of a spotlight on figures around Real Madrid like Marcelo.
One fan took to Reddit to say: "Marcelo has been everywhere after retirement. Living the life like a true king. Respect," while another replied: "May man has become a member of management, seeing him connected with the team always delights me."
Not that Real Madrid fans could love Marcelo anymore than they already did, of course.
