It is no secret that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is very close with his superstar players at the club, but Vinicius Junior holds a special place in his heart, even as Kylian Mbappe seemingly replaced him as the Golden Boy after Flo signed him for free from PSG in 2024 following years of pursuing his signature (including a cold rejection in 2022 after Vini's first Champions League crown).
Vinicius Jr., though, has yet to sign a new deal with Real Madrid, which means in the winter transfer window, he could cash a fat check and leave Real for free on a pre contract for the summer 2027 transfer window when his deal with Los Blancos officially ends.
Real Madrid fans cannot contemplate their two time Champions League winning hero and spark of the offense betraying them, and there is a theory going around that after Mbappe signed his mega contract with Madrid, Vini has been asking for more money to be around a closer plan to the Frenchman but that Real will not value him as such despite the positive rhetoric.
Real Madrid fans remain in the dark
Well, the press asked Florentino Perez at a conference ahead of his elections against Enrique Riquelme, and the Spanish businessman proclaimed this to be a myth, via the Madrid Zone, "What needs to happen for Vini to renew his contract? Nothing. They're saying he asks for too much money, but it's a lie."
Now that is another point blank special from Florentino, who is not even entertaining the notion that Vinicius Jr. is asking for too much money behind the scenes. He says that is not the case at all, but at the same time, Real Madrid fans may have a hard time buying that "nothing" is stopping the renewal if both sides want a deal to get done. There has to be something blocking things, and if it isn't money, which is the most common issue despite how few people would like to admit to such a truth, then they would like to know from either the president or Vinicius what it is.
Vinicius Jr. was Florentino and Juni Calafat's big find from Flamengo, the first unknown superstar they bet on from South America and who made it massive, setting the stage for the subsequent transfer policy that has brought Real Madrid the likes of Endrick...and Reinier Jesus. It would truly be devastating for long time fans of Real Madrid to see Vini go, for free or even otherwise.
