For the first time in a while, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez faces a real challenge for his job, and underdog Enrique Riquelme is doing his best to try and get Madridistas talking by hyping up major signings like Rodri and apparently another big star on the Spanish national team, as well as someone else. And he even has a top manager apparently cooked up for Real Madrid if he wins to counter Perez's seemingly sealed deal for club icon Jose Mourinho.

Now, Perez isn't shying away from making bold claims about the upcoming summer transfer market to stir up the emotions of the Real Madrid faithful, even though Madridstas were told by all the top journalists in Spain that the Royal Whites would not be making big splashes this year.

Yet in a press conference straight from the man himself, via the Madrid Zone, Florentino Perez stated that Madridistas can expect to see new stars at the Santiago Bernabeu in 2026, too.

Florentino Perez rarely makes big promises

Of course, Real Madrid fans will believe it when they see it, but given Florentino rarely talks like this and almost always delivers when he does, Madridsitas will believe a man of his track record - which he is making everyone know about through big displays in the capital - signing star players more than they will believe the entirely unproven and unknown Enrique Riquelme.

Despite the dream links to Bayern Munich's untouchable left footed right winger and Ballon d'Or candidate Michael Olise, Real Madrid are not expected to make any splashes to add to a dysfunctional attack centered around the disappointing Kylian Mbappe.

Instead, Real Madrid are eyeing multiple signings to a defense that has not been anywhere near elite for the past few years, and they are also in need of a big star in the midfield after failing to come close to replacing legends Toni Kroos and Luka Modric who departed in each of the last two summer transfer windows.

So far, the biggest names linked to Real Madrid in these positions are Ibrahima Konate, Alessandro Bastoni, Enzo Fernandez, Rodri, Sandro Tonali, Alexis Mac Allister, Archie Gray, Luka Vuskovic, Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, and Nico Schlotterbeck.

Still, one more position that could bring new stars to Real Madrid is left back, where Spanish internationals Alejandro Grimaldo of the Bundesliga and Chelsea's Marc Cucurella are players interested in leaving. Madridistas will eagerly await Florentino's next moves.
