When Real Madrid president Florentino Perez finds a player he falls in love with, he will stop at nothing to sign them. Although he cycles through other players that he really likes and wlll bring in, such as Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool last summer, because he sees them as market - and marketing - opportunities, the real obsession happens when there is a superstar attacker who becomes all the rage.

The most famous recent example of Perez falling in love with a player is Kylian Mbappe from PSG. He pursued him for years, got rejected by Mbappe in 2022 when it seemed like they were going to be able to sign him, and then finally bagged him for free in 2024 despite the initial rejection and concerns about him unbalancing the team.

Real Madrid already had Vinicius Junior as a right footed left winger at the time of signing Mbappe. But now after adding Mbappe and still trying to find the winning formula with the French icon, Flo is already looking at an even better fit from France - a left footed right winger - as his next blockbuster dream signing for Real Madrid.

Florentino Perez is moved by Michael Olise

According to German journalist Christian Falk, Florentino Perez is "keen" on signing Michael Olise from Bayern Munich in the summer 2026 transfer window. Falk reports that Real Madrid are thinking of spending up to 165 million euros on him, which would be more than they have been prepared to spend on any player since offering 200 million euros to PSG for Kylian Mbappe back in 2021 before signing him for free about three years later. Reportedly Olise turned Real Madrid heads when he destroyed them in the first leg of the Champions League at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Olise is worth that kind of money. Only Lamine Yamal is better among wingers in world football, as the Bayern Munich man is set to break Lionel Messi's assist record this season. He has been even better than Mbappe this season, and only teammate Harry Kane and Yamal have a higher stock in world football right now.

An intelligent and electrifying dribbler who can score great curlers and create loads of chances, Olise is the perfect modern winger with the additional X-Factor of that smooth and cultured left foot. He is a Rolls Royce of a player, and Thierry Henry always praises him effusively for how he sees the game differently.

It is hard to envision Bayern Munich even opening the door for Olise to be sold, even if Real Madrid were to up their offer. He means too much to Bayern right now and would be impossible to replace, arguably offering them even more money through Champions League winnings over the course of the next eight years as a 24 year old superstar. But if anyone can make a crazy deal, then it is Florentino Perez, who has brought in Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappe, Luis Figo, and many more to this club.
