Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has dreams of signing Vinicius Junior away from Real Madrid, and with no contract agreement yet between Los Blancos and Vini Jr. despite more than a year of negotaitions, the Gunners have every right to get involved and make their best offer.
Real Madrid have just struck a deal, according to Fabrizio Romano, for Yan Diomande for over 100 million euros, but Real Madrid and Jose Mourinho maintain that this has nothing to do with Vini's future and that they still plan on having both, with Diomande starting on the right this season. Well, Madridistas remain skeptical and want to see the club prove it.
According to a new report from Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sports Germany, Real Madrid are going to do exactly that. Plettenberg states that Real Madrid have submitted a counter offer to Vinicius Junior and his representatives for a new deal, and they are finally hoping to reach an agreement on a new extension with Arsenal interested. Meanwhile, Pletti states that Arsenal are preparing their first official transfer offer to Real Madrid, with Vini aware of that possible bid.
Vinicius Jr. is at a crossroads
Real Madrid have to close this deal with Vinicius Jr. before it is too little, too late and he gets attracted by the next big thing or Mikel Arteta smooth talks him as the face of one of the most followed clubs in the Premier League that just won the title and made it to the Champions League Final - feats Real Madrid have not achieved in the last two years.
But the fact that Real are submitting a counter offer means they are getting on the right track. Vinicius has every right, too, to hold out on Madrid, because the club have had months to submit a serious offer, which has not happened. It is only now that they are getting interested in actually paying the man, just as they have done everything to make the Yan Diomande and Marc Cucurella deals happen financially, for example.
At the same time, no matter what Vinicius Jr. has done for Real Madrid, nobody, not even Cristiano Ronaldo himself, has been irreplaceable at Real Madrid for Florentino Perez. And no fan is going to cry for a multi millionaire. If Real Madrid does not mean as much to Vinicius as it did a few years ago, Madrid will move on and still be great with Diomande - and maybe Michael Olise.
