Last October, Real Madrid captain Dani Carvajal had a severe ligament tear injury that has kept him out of action for a long time. The athlete is not anticipated to return until beyond the end of current season, given the history of this type of injury.

However, Carvajal recently posted an Instagram story that may indicate that he may return sooner than expected. The right-back is clearly recuperating well, and despite being on the sidelines, he has been guiding the squad as captain and mentor.

And only lately, one of Carvajal's close confidants disclosed further information regarding the player's expected comeback.

Joselu talks about Dani Carvajal's return

Former Real Madrid striker Joselu Mato is a personal friend and family member of Dani Carvajal. They played on the same youth squad and against one other. The two have an unfettered, brotherly affinity.

Joselu told the reporters about the moment he learnt about Carvajal's injuries. He described how he constantly spoke with the player's doctors and physiotherapists to remain up to speed on his injury progress, as well as how upset he felt after learning about the terrible struggle he was facing.

He describes being summoned inside the ambulance and learning the severity of his wounds. Joselu said, "My wife and I were incredibly sick. She called me in the ambulance and told me they'd told her it was kaput".

Speaking further about the player, Joselu outlined what Carvajal hopes to achieve and when he expects to return to action. He answered, "Dani will come back the same and even better. I know how stubborn he is. He's going to want to play in the Club World Cup".

If Joselu's remarks are to be accepted, Carvajal is planning an early comeback, and the indicators are already there. He has been preparing hard with the Valdebebas crew and might join sooner than planned. The Club World Cup begins in mid-June, and Carvajal's ailment is projected to last until late August. An early return would not be altogether miraculous, but would be noteworthy nonetheless.
