When Real Madrid take the pitch against Real Sociedad on matchday one of the 26/27 La Liga, it will be a very different looking team compared to that which finished last season. The club has had a number of new arrivals as well as departures that have drastically changed the composition of the team. One of those players who has departed Real Madrid this summer is Dani Ceballos, and according to the transfer guru himself, Ceballos is already eyeing his next club and could be plotting his revenge against Real Madrid.

As being reported by Fabrizio Romano on X, former Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos has made the trip to Seville in hopes of securing a return to his boyhood club Real Betis this summer following the expiration of his contract with Los Blancos. Having been somewhat frozen out of the team towards the end of his time at the Bernabeu, Ceballos now looks to get back at his former club by making the move to one of Real's La Liga rivals.

Dani Ceballos hopes to secure move to La Liga rivals

The Spaniard has been a loyal servant to Los Blancos since his arrival in 2017 but despite all his loyalty, as we've seen with players in the past, his loyalty is reward with a move away from the club. Real were hoping to get a fee of around €30 million for Ceballos but after no clubs showed the willingness to meet that figure, the club decided to terminate his contract one month early, giving him the ability to join any club as a free agent.

And it seems Ceballos has landed on Real Betis as his preferred landing spot. The midfielder had been linked with a surprise move to dutch side Ajax at the beginning of the transfer window but in the end nothing came of that and he seems destined to return to his boyhood club. Ceballos was brought in by Real Madrid from Betis in 2017, making 98 appearances for Betis grabbing seven goals in his time in Seville.

The 29-year-old took a backseat at the Bernabeu for much of the season in 25/26, with injuries derailing his prospect at regular game time. Ceballos only made 23 appearances across all competitions this season, failing to get on the stat sheet, with the only stat he picked up being two yellow cards.

In the end, Ceballos' time at the Bernabeu didn't go how the player expected. It was always going to be nearly impossible to break into a midfield with the likes of Toni Kroos, Luka Modric and Casemiro, directly followed by the next generation with Valverde, Tchouameni, and Jude Bellingham. Ceballos never really caused any issues during his time in Madrid so it's safe to say Real Madrid fans would like to see him do well at Betis and potential have a late career resurgence alongside his former Real Madrid teammate Fran Garcia, who has also joined Real Betis this summer.
