Real Madrid are a club that has had its fair share of controversy in their long history. Being one of the biggest clubs in the world always comes with its downfalls and for Real Madrid being entangled in controversy somewhat comes with the brand.

Whether its controversial refereeing decisions going for them or against them, corruption allegations, or the European Super League project that was famously backed by club president Florentino Perez, controversy is somewhat common ground at Real Madrid.

However, the most recent controversy Real Madrid are entangled in could have a major impact on how the remainder of Real madrid's season plays out when it comes to their hunt for their 16th Champions League title.

UEFA launch investigation into Real Madrid after Atletico Madrid triumph

UEFA have posted an official statement on their website, stating that a number of Real Madrid players are under investigation by the ethics and disciplinary inspector due to their actions after Real Madrid's round of 16 victory over rivals Atletico Madrid earlier this month.

The players being investigated include Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Jr, Antonio Rudiger, and Dani Ceballos. Reports from Spanish media outlet Marca suggest that the players are being scrutinised by UEFA for the manner of their celebrations after their victory.

The Spanish outlet reports that Rudiger is being investigated for a gesture of putting a hand around his neck suggesting that Atletico Madrid choked away the game, Mbappe for "touching his genitals" and Vinicius Jr for a confrontation with the crowd during the celebrations.

Whether or not any of the players will face punishment from UEFA remains to be seen. Real Madrid's next Champions League match comes on April 8th as they clash with Arsenal in the first leg of the quarterfinals.
