There are transfer rumors swirling around Franco Mastantuono, as some pretty significant clubs in European football like Alvaro Arbeloa's Fulham and old Italian powers Fiorentina are highly interested in signing the talented Real Madrid teenager on loan.
But you can tell that both Mastantuono and even manager Jose Mourinho are quietly dreaming of working together in some capacity immediately. Mastantuono had a tough first season at Real Madrid with many disappointed in his lack of athleticism and attitude, and some were even considering him a flop and a fraud from the Argentinian top flight.
That was unfair, though, as Mastantuono had real flashes of technical brilliance and looked like a future world beater at times. It just was not working out, and Mastantuono clearly needs regularly playing time and to be slowly eased into Real Madrid - not starting immediately as Xabi Alonso bizarrely had him doing, especially on the right wing.

It is early days in the preseason, but Franco Mastantuono is already making a lot of noise, even beyond the transfer rumblings. Mastantuono has been one of the players impressing Jose Mourinho the most during practices, and in the first friendly of the summer against lowly Alcorcon, Mastantuono drew a penalty and rave reviews.
According to Rodra P of ESPN Brasil, via the Madrid Zone, Mastantuono was THE outstanding player of the first friendly match of the summer. He was dangerous, making great dribbles and looking incisive, with the opposition unable to handle his quality on the ball.
Mastantuono's performance showed that he is ready to play, and he made a clear statement to Mourinho that he not only has great quality for the future, but great quality for the present. He will want to convince Mou he can play now for Real Madrid and not necessarily be loaned, since the ideal would be to be a star immediately.
Real Madrid already have Arda Guler as a No. 10, and Brahim Diaz does not look to be going anywhere this summer transfer window despite considerable interest from Itaiian powers Juventus. Meanwhile, Los Blancos are dreaming of a new Galactic right winger in Bayern Munich and France's Ballon d'Or candidate Michael Olise.
But Mastantuono will be a part of the equation, if not this season then for the next five to ten. Real Madrid invested 60 million euros in the 18 year old, and he is starting show early signs of a return.
