Fiorentina player Franco Mastantuono was very happy about his move to Italy earlier this summer, he revealed in a recent interview. After Argentina’s match against Bolivia, Mastantuono spoke to the media, where he was asked about his move to Fiorentina. He said, "Since I went to Italy and changed my life, I have been feeling very well."
To be absolutely fair to Mastantuono, he looks much better now than the way he was playing for Real Madrid last season. Obviously, it's a very different club, it's a very different league, and it's a very different environment for the player. So much regular football is definitely helping the Argentine midfielder adapt to life outside of his own country.
He started a few games for Real Madrid when he first joined the club, but after that, he started getting injured, and then he was very inconsistent after that, which is why a move to Fiorentina came up for him. Now he played against Bolivia as a substitute too, where he performed really well, creating quite a few chances in limited minutes. For Fiorentina, he scored a hat trick recently, which was also really good to watch.
Franco Mastantuono looks revived at Fiorentina this season
In general, he just looks like he has his spark back. He does not look like the underconfident player that everyone saw at Real Madrid.
Mastantuono looks like the player Real Madrid signed from River Plate a year ago, and he is now finally playing the way he was supposed to be playing in the first place.
Now, does this mean that whenever Mastantuono does return to Real Madrid, he would play in the same way? He could, but he might not, because maybe Spanish football just does not work for him, or maybe the pressure at Real Madrid was too much for him to handle at such a young age.
Maybe, when he comes back now, he will be much more accustomed to the feeling of playing in Europe and playing for a club like Real Madrid. He did say that he is changing his life, and that might also include any unknown off-the-pitch habits that he wanted to change after his first season at the club.
Obviously, this is all just speculation, but the fact of the matter is Mastantuono is performing much, much better than he was at his parent club. Hopefully, that continues for the rest of his career, and he is able to live up to the expectations that everyone has for him.
When he is truly at his best, he is one of the most exciting young players in the world. The only problem is that it just has not happened nearly as consistently as everyone would want it to.
