Florentino Perez has been dreaming of signing Michael Olise from Bayern Munich for Real Madrid ever since watching him carve up the Merengue defense in the Champions League. Despite France getting bounced out of the World Cup in the semifinals by Spain, Olise still did more good than harm to his transfer stock, impressing Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thierry Henry considerably with his playmaking performance in a 2-0 win over Morocco in the quarterfinals, for example.
There have been a lot of mixed reports on Olise. In Spain, of course, they say Real Madrid think he could be coming. In Germany, obviously, the sources from Bayern Munich are relaying that there is no chance in the world he will be leaving for Real this summer.
But in France, they are weighing in differently. In a bombshell report posted by L'Equipe's Hugo Delom, Damien Degorre, and Antoine Simonneau (probably their top three reporters), Michael Olise has apparently decided on his future. After talking things over with Real Madrid star Aurelien Tchouameni and Kylian Mbappe in the France national team camp, Olise has decided on Real Madrid.
Real Madrid are closing in on their dream
L'Equipe say that Olise is not even hiding in private any more that he wants to join Madrid. He is not at all interested in Premier League clubs or anyone else; he only wants Real Madrid and will apparently be making that known soon. The French newspaper adds that while Dayot Upamecano, the star center back of Bayern Munich, was convincing Olise to stay in Bavaria and confident that Olise would not want to leave, but his hard work to keep the right winger has evidently failed.
Finally, L'Equipe is reporting that Real Madrid will make a play for Olise when the World Cup Final between Spain and Argentina ends this Sunday. Real Madrid already know Olise wants to join them, and while Bayern Munich are firmly against selling their most prized player, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez still wants him immediately this summer transfer window.
It has been made clear before this report that Olise and Bayern Munich will be meeting in person to discuss the player's future, and without a sign that he is staying, Bayern have been sweating his future a bit, even if they are publicly saying that they will never sell. Because, well, what else can they say? But if it is true that even Dayot Upamecano cannot convince him and Olise is dreaming of Madrid and a reunion with Mbappe and Tchouameni, Real are in great shape.
