Gonzalo García still wants to come back to Real Madrid one day and be an important player, according to a report from AS.
García is leaving Real Madrid to join Fulham in the following couple of days, with the deal already complete, according to reliable sources like Fabrizio Romano. He will join the club for around €40 million, which will also include a 30% sell-on clause for Real Madrid.
Garcia has been at Real Madrid all his life, and started making his mark at the club quite early in his career, when he was scoring goals left, right and centre for the club's academy teams, leading up to Castilla as well.

However, the year that really shot up his value and prominence was 2025. The player had a really good Club World Cup campaign when Kylian Mbappé was injured for Real Madrid last season under then-manager Xabi Alonso. Alonso gave García full trust in his first game in charge and put him in the starting lineup. He started scoring goals, and he ended up being the top scorer in the entire competition.
The season after, García also had eight goals despite playing only 1,400 minutes across La Liga, the Champions League, and the Copa del Rey. Those goals put him in joint fourth place on the top scorers list for Los Blancos last season, which is really impressive if you ask me.
But things happened. Real Madrid chose to sell him because he's one of their better assets, and they have now signed another youngster in his position for a cheaper price than what they sold Gonzalo for. Carlos Espí has joined Real Madrid for €25 million.
If Gonzalo García is ever to come back, he will not only have to compete with Kylian Mbappé for a position in the starting XI, if he's still there, but also have to compete with Espí, who is not only younger but is a more physically dominant presence in attack.
At the moment, though, García will use that as motivation to improve as a football player at Fulham and do his best to eventually make the Spain squad as well. The player took leaps as a football player during his formative years and did what no one thought he could do. Now, it is time for him to do the same thing, but with a different goal.
It will be interesting to see how his development unfolds over the course of the next few seasons, but if there's one thing that I am sure of, it is that García has the talent to succeed at Real Madrid. It is just about the timing of the whole thing.
