Real Madrid are assessing Jacobo Ramon's transfer situation, and his future will partly depend on what happens with Antonio Rudiger at the end of the season, according to the ever-reliable Fabrizio Romano.
Ramon has been having some amazing seasons at Como under Cesc Fabregas and alongside Nico Paz, where he has proven himself as the main cornerstone of the team's defence.
He has been really good for Como for the last two seasons and has developed tremendously since leaving Real Madrid in 2025. He was already brilliant in his first season in Italy, and now it seems like he has taken another leap as a top-level talent.
Real Madrid absolutely need to bring Jacobo back to Real Madrid next summer
Now, he is one of the best options for Real Madrid to have at centre back because of the amount of money they can sign him back for, which is around €9 million.
For any other top-talented centre back, Real Madrid would have to pay a lot more money than what they'd have to pay for Ramon. €9 million is an absolute bargain, and if he comes back to the club as a third- or fourth-choice centre back, on paper he would be a really good option.
He would also be a very good example for the academy players that things are looking good for them as they continue to try and make a case to be a first-team player. The other side of the story would be what Ramon actually wants to do. Does he want to come back to Real Madrid and play a limited role, or would he rather start every single match for Como and improve himself as a football player even more?
In fairness, he doesn't necessarily have to limit himself to a third- or fourth-choice centre back. For example, if Dean Huijsen does not have a good season and Real Madrid decide to bring Ramon back, there is no reason for Ramon to remain a thought-of third-choice centre back if he is playing better than Huijsen and is more reliable, fitness-wise, than Eder Militao.
What ends up happening will be interesting to watch, but Ramon is one of the best talents Real Madrid have produced in his position in a very long time. If they are to bring him back, it should not matter whether Rudiger leaves or stays.
Rudiger is by the way nearing the end of his career as a top-level professional. He is still a good centre back, but Ramon is more athletic, more composed, and the better long-term option, and in the short term as well, for Real Madrid.
It'll be interesting to follow the player's development over the course of the season and see whether he continues at Como or comes back to Real Madrid next season.
