Well, it wouldn't be your typical Real Madrid season if the team wasn't battling some sort of major injury crisis. The club has had to cope with a number of lengthy injuries to key players in the squad, just like in the last few seasons, which has cost the team results in key matches in the La Liga title fight.

Carlo Ancelotti has not only had to cope with season-ending ACL injuries to Dani Carvajal and Eder Militao, but he has also had to deal with a number of players dealing with week-to-week injuries, which has had an impact on the results this season.

Players like Kylian Mbappe, Fede Valverde, and Thibaut Courtois have all seen time on the sidelines while they deal with slight knocks. However, last month Real Madrid lost a player who turned out to be a key player this season, and after fears he'd be out for months, he is on track for speedy return much ahead of schedule.

Injured Real Madrid midfielder close to returning ahead of schedule

According to a report from Marca, Dani Ceballos is close to making his return to the team far ahead of schedule after suffering a hamstring injury against Real Sociedad on February 26th. At the time of his injury he was expected to miss up to three months but he may be back in just over one month.

As mentioned earlier Ceballos was first expected to miss an extended amount of time but he has had a remarkable rehab process and is expected to be back this month. Ceballos could be in the mix to be part of the squad for the Champions League second-leg against Arsenal and the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona later this month.

At the time of his injury the Spaniard had become a surprising regular starter for Carlo Ancelotti and had become an unsung hero for Los Blancos.

Ceballos stepped up when the team needed him, and he has proven his doubters wrong this season, showing that he has what it takes to be a difference-maker in a squad with such great depth.

His return could signal the good faith that Real Madrid need to charge on in their fight for a historic treble-winning season.
