Real Madrid have made some really astute transfer signings in this summer window, and it is only the middle of July, as well as some important contract extensions.
There is no doubt in my mind that there will be more movement from Real Madrid's end, whether it is about the sale of a certain Brazilian superstar, or signing the player in the featured image: Ibrahima Konate.
Real Madrid have recently, according to L'Equipe, approached Liverpool about whether there is an offer they can make that would make the Reds sell Konate this summer, which was a huge boost in this saga.
Konate is great, but there is another brilliant player who Real Madrid will keep eyes on
However, it is pretty certain that Real Madrid also have someone else in mind. According to the same report by L'Equipe - via MadridXtra - they are looking to sign Konate, but that does not mean they have stopped keeping tabs on Arsenal superstar defender William Saliba.
They still have an eye on the defender, and even though he would cost much more than Konate, it would be a sensational signing.
That is not to say Real Madrid will go on to sign both of them this summer alone. They will most likely wait to make a move for Saliba either next summer or the summer after, depending on their roster at the time.
This is just my prediction, but if Konate and Dean Huijsen work out as an ideal centre-back partnership, they may not have to invest in Saliba. On the other hand, if the Konate move does not work out this summer, or Saliba becomes available, then they may not sign the Liverpool centre-back
Nothing is set in stone at the moment, which is why their pursuit of Konate should not stop a potential chase for Saliba. You can look at both, but end up buying just one, which is probably what Real Madrid may end up doing anyway.
