A chaotic past week for Real Madrid shows no signs of stopping amid reports claiming Florentino Perez wants to bring Erling Haaland to the Estadio Bernabeu. The Manchester City striker has been in red-hot form this season, bagging 20 goals in 21 Premier League games.
According to Sky Sports Germany's Florian Plettenberg (via Madrid Zone), the club are looking to sign Haaland as early as this summer. Perez dreams of bringing the Norwegian to the Spanish capital and views him as "saviour."
Haaland was linked with Madrid before joining City from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2022. Rumors of the 25-year-old one day arriving at the Bernabeu have remained a constant despite him penning a new long-term deal at the Etihad in January 2025.
Real Madrid want Haaland
It's also claimed that Haaland's ultimate career goal is to play for Los Merengues. He is said to be a huge fan of Spain which will only further fuel speculation that Madrid will be targeting him in the summer.
Perez is already preparing for the summer as he decides on who will become Xabi Alonso's permanent replacement. Jurgen Klopp has emerged as the frontrunner despite immediately playing down the possibility of taking over the La Liga giants.
Klopp has yet to manage Haaland but it is a tantalising prospect to imagine the pair arriving as part of a new era at Madrid. But it might also mean one of the club's superstars bids farewell.
Vinicius Junior surely leaves
How do you fit Haaland, Vinicius Junior, Kylian Mbappe and Rodrygo in one team? It's nigh on impossible especially when Jude Bellingham is operating just behind them and the usual formation is a three-man frontline.
If any of the current members of the Madrid squad are to leave as a result of Haaland potentially joining the club it would be Vinicius. The Brazilian winger's future has already been uncertain due to his contract expiring in the summer of 2027.
Vinicius has endured a dismal season, going on an 18-game goal drought until he scored a sensational goal in a 3-2 loss to Barcelona in the Supercopa de Espana final. He has previously been linked with Chelsea, although suggestions of a move to Stamford Bridge this summer have been refuted.
The 25-year-old's behavior during Alonso's reign has been cause for concern with many critical of his demeanour. He has yet to wish the Spaniard well since his dismissal and reports suggest the pair weren't on good terms at the Bernabeu.
