Although Merengue fans are dreaming of exciting, high upside solutions like Nico Schlotterbeck, the easiest star they can go out and add to their defense is impending Liverpool free agent Ibrahima Konate, who remains interested in switching to Real.
During the March international break, Real Madrid center midfielder Eduardo Camavinga posted a whole collage of pictures of him and Konate hanging out together in New York City after France's games were finished.

Although Camavinga and Ibrahima Konate were just chiling, Cama chose to post the photos a day after more rumors about Konate to Real Madrid surfaced. These players know what they are doing when they start posting things to social media, especially this number of photos of just the two French national teammates together.
It is, as the Spanish press likes to say, a gesture of Eduardo Camavinga winking to the Liverpool star. Konate would follow suit like David Alaba and Antonio Rudiger as high profile free agent center back signings from big clubs, but not every Madridista is convinced about Konate joining for a high salary, especially since he is an injury risk and not in his best season.
Maybe Camavinga is hearing these whispers and trying to give a nod to Konate, whose interest from Real Madrid has seemingly cooled from where it was last summer when whispers of a possible free agent switch first surfaced. As Konate awaits Liverpool sending him a contract offer he likes, he is holding out hope that Real Madrid go for the Frenchman as a potential center back signing, though Real are searching across Europe for all the options before making an informed decision.
Still, Konate is a proven winner for Liverpool and still not even 27 years of age. When motivated, he is world class, and joining Real Madrid is plenty of motivation. Agent Cama appears to be subtly doing his best to push the conversation on Konate forward.
