Real Madrid have been strolling in the last two games of the Club World Cup, despite facing several problems.
Los Blancos lost Raul Asencio in the first few minutes of the game against Pachuca, and yet they won comfortably. Against Salzburg, they took it up a notch.
Real Madrid faced problems from the Austrian outfit in the second half, but they were exceptionally good in the first, which made them go through to the knockout stages as group-toppers.
They did it in style. Real Madrid looked the best they have looked as a team in a long time against Salzburg on Thursday, and there were a few really good performers.
Real Madrid's new signings have hit the ground running
One of them was new signing Trent Alexander-Arnold. So many people were critical of Trent after one game, in which he was not even that bad. Against Salzburg, Trent quickly showed how good he is, and he was like that on both ends of the pitch.
To end the game, Trent had 89 touches, two key passes, 83% passing accuracy, three long balls completed, and crosses completed. Defensively, he was rock solid, with six duels won, four tackles, five clearances and two interceptions.
Trent filled up the stat sheet for every single critic to see and moan about. There were so many people who were quick to judge the Englishman after one bad game.
It obviously takes time for a player, no matter how good individually, to fit in and adapt to the new club. Trent's adaptation process is not done. In fact, he is far from it. However, there are some small improvements that both Trent and Real Madrid should celebrate, and this game was one of them.
There will be some bad games to come, obviously. There will also be some good ones, and it will be exciting to see how Trent's prime at Real Madrid looks like.
