James Rodriguez reveals Florentino Perez advice that made him join Real Madrid

James Rodrgiuez speaks of what made him join Madrid

During his tenure at Real Madrid, Rodriguez was widely regarded as one of the club's most exciting players. He made 125 games for the club, scoring 37 goals and 42 assists while winning two Champions Leagues and two Club World Cups. His time at the club was incredibly successful, to say the least.

The Colombian explained what motivated him to join the Spanish club in a recent appearance on the show "Los amigos de Edu". When questioned about his move to Europe and how it happened, Rodriquez stated, "[Manchester] City and PSG offered a lot of money for me."

He goes on to recall the moment he first learned of Madrid's interest in him. He stated, "In the second or third game of the World Cup, Mendes told me that Real Madrid wanted me but was afraid I'd lose focus. I said 'what?' and I scored one goal against Japan and two against Uruguay; it was the opposite. I played better."

However, he tells what ultimately influenced his decision to join Real Madrid. He stated that despite the money provided by clubs such as City and PSG, what Florentino Perez described as compelling him to join immediately.

"Florentino told me: 'What do you want? Glory or money?' That's why I signed for Real Madrid"

During the interview, he talked a lot about his time at Real Madrid, his relationship with the fans, and his recollections of contending for the Ballon d'Or. James Rodriquez was one of Real Madrid's most successful players, playing for the club at the height of its Champions League supremacy in the twenty-first century.
