Following Real Madrid's surprise sacking of Xabi Alonso, the biggest question in the footballing world is who will be next to take the helm at Los Blancos and restore their glory days. Real appointed Castilla manager Alvaro Arbeloa as interim manager for the rest of the season, but whether he'll be appointed permanently remains to be seen. He's making a solid case for himself despite the Copa del Rey exit to Albacete, having two wins from three, scoring 10 goals, and conceding just four.

One benefit for Madrid is that there is no shortage of potential candidates they can bring in, with one of the biggest names being former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp. The German is currently the Head of Global Soccer for the Red Bull group of teams, but given his resume, he is many people's number one option to be the next man in charge at the Estadio Bernabeu.

Jamie Carragher, however, thinks otherwise and doesn't see Klopp as the right fit for Madrid, and has drawn up a list of candidates who are better suited to the Spanish giants; it's not short of big names.

Carragher's four-man Real Madrid managerial shortlist - No Klopp

While speaking on Sky Sports' Monday Night Football, Carragher revealed his list of who he thinks could be potential options to replace Xabi Alonso at Real Madrid, after he ruled out Jurgen Klopp for the job say:

"I just don't think Jurgen Klopp is a Real Madrid manager. I just don't see that in terms of pressing and energy, it doesn't seem to suit them."

His list of four candidates included Didier Deschamps, Roberto Martinez, Mauricio Pochettino, and Zinedine Zidane. This is somewhat of a mixed bag of candidates as each has their own distinct style and philosophy, with each bringing something different to the table for Madrid.

One of the biggest points made by Carragher and Barcelona legend Thierry Henry when talking about candidates is this idea of there's too much coaching and not enough managing in today's game, and that was the biggest issue with Alonso, and Real need to look for someone who can better manage the egos and personalities in the dressing room.

Of the names they listed as potential candidates, all have roadblocks in the way of a move to Los Blancos. Zidane seems all but confirmed to be the next manager of the French National Team after Deschamps leaves his role after this summer's World Cup, while Martinez and Pochettino are in charge of Portugal and the United States, respectively.

Who exactly Madrid will choose as their next manager remains a mystery, given the number of potential candidates, so in the end, only time will tell.
