Much of the transfer talk at Real Madrid this summer has been about the midfield and who stays and who goes. The club has been looking to reinforce the midfield all summer, but before any midfield reinforcements can arrive sales will need to be made as there are a number of surplus midfielders in the team, and Jose Mourinho has just made the tough call when it comes to the future of one midfielder in particular.

As being reported by theMadridZone on X, Jose Mourinho has directly informed Eduardo Camavinga that it will be very difficult for him to find playing time this season, and as a result the club is now looking for potential transfer destinations for the Frenchman, while the players is still saying he doesn't wish to leave and wants to stay at the Bernabeu.

Camavinga's time at the Bernabeu may be close to an end

From Camavinga's perspective, he will do doubt feel somewhat hard done by this decision. The 23-year-old has been a loyal servant to the club since his arrival in 2021 and has always done what the club has asked him to do, playing out of position on multiple occasions during the many injury crisis' Real Madrid have had in his time at the club. So for someone like him who has shown nothing but loyalty to be told he needs to look for an exit will no doubt hurt the Frenchman.

But in the grand scheme of things, Camavinga's exit does make sense. His form hasn't been at it's best in the last two years and he's lost his starting midfield role to Aurelien Tchouameni and Fede Valverde, and with the rumored arrival of Rodri, Real Madrid will have to makes sales in order to accommodate his arrival, and Camavinga being sold does make sense.

Where exactly the Frenchman will land if he does end up getting sold remains unknown but all signs point to the Premier League. All of Manchester City, Manchester United, and Liverpool have shown interest in Camavinga with United being the team with the strongest interest of them all. The Red Devils are looking to bolster their midfield this summer and believe Camavinga would be the perfect piece to add as they look to get back to the top of English football.

The Frenchman is currently valued at around €50 million, far below his peak value of around €80 million back in the 23/24 season, but €50 million would still be a good sale to bring in to fund other moves this summer. Seeing Camavinga would no doubt be hard to see as he still has so much he can offer to Los Blancos, but it seems like the time is right for his departure as keeping him on the bench wouldn't do much good for both the player or the club.
