New Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho will be confirmed in a short matter of time, as Florentino Perez already formally announced him as the new manager of his project once he is elected president of the club again over Enrique Riquelme.
Mourinho did not win the Portuguese league last season, but he went undefeated with a Benfica side that had less talent than his rivals while even upsetting Real Madrid in the Champions League to get into the knockouts on the last day of the league phase.
In his second stint as Real Madrid manager, Mourinho already has big ideas and a long lease from Perez to do as he pleases on the market. Flo has already given him two new toys in the defense in Denzel Dumfries and Ibrahima Konate, and while Mourinho will probably want more, he will also want help in the middle of the park.
Jose Mourinho wants Real Madrid to use Jorge Mendes
According to a new report from Jose Felix Diaz of Diario AS, via the Madrid Zone, Jose Mourinho has requested two fresh signings from Florentino Perez in the Real Madrid midfield. While Rodri and Enzo Fernandez are the two biggest names linked to Real, Mourinho is after two different players from the same league.
Mourinho reportedly wants to sign West Ham United center midfielder Mateus Fernandes and Manchester City midfielder Benardo Silva. The former will be a market opportunity since West Ham were relegated to the EFL Championship, while Silva is finally a free agent after years of rumors linking him to the Big Two in La Liga.
Silva seems to be leaning towards Real Madrid, and whlie his questionable 2025/26 campaign for Man City means that the ship has sailed in the eyes of many Madridistas, Mourinho is apparently still very high on his compatriot's ability to help the team.
A jack of all trades in the midfield and on the right wing for Man City, Benardo Silva has an impressive work rate and pedigree, and Mourinho is an old school guy who clearly favors veteran players like this one.
There is also the matter of the agent. Jorge Mendes is Mourinho's agent, Fernandes's agent, and Silva's agent. Many Madridistas had dreams of Mendes and the repaired relationship with Real Madrid due to Mou's presence yielding them a real blockbuster midfield target like Joao Neves or Vitinha, but these two are much more realistic signings for the Merengues to attract in summer 2026.
