Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho has brought in his first wave of signings with Bernardo Silva, Ibrahima Konate, Denzel Dumfries, and Marc Cucurella all joining the Royal White club, and now it is time for him to choose who is going to go in order to clear out house for more additions.
But based on the players Mourinho likes more than everyone thought, it looks like Real Madrid may not be bringing in many attacking talents this summer. Everyone thought for sure that Mourinho would have criticisms of teenage sensation Franco Mastantuono, who had a highly difficult transition to La Liga from Argentina, and that he would want the player out on loan to get seasoned.
Instead, according to a report from Mario Cortegana of The Athletic, Mourinho is a big fan of Mastantuono, and his exit this summer transfer window is not likely. Mou wants to get a closer look at the young players like Mastantuono or Gonzalo Garcia before sending him off, but this is the first we have heard of him being high on Mastantuono, who did have a bit of a problem with his attitude and tracking back last season.
Jose Mourinho is ready to push Mastantuono
Meanwhile, Brahim Diaz has no problems with his attitude, but with Juventus and Luciano Spalletti driving hard after the Moroccan international, there was a belief that maybe Real Madrid would sell him in order to sign someone with more raw quality for the wings.
But again, Cortegana over at The Athletic reports that Jose Mourinho and the Real Madrid brass think Brahim is valuable. Brahim has been pushing hard to stay in Madrid despite the Juventus interest, and while there was initially belief that Madrid and Mourinho would tell Brahim to accept a sale because he would not be in their plans, it now appears that they do value him as a squad player.
While Brahim lacks the athleticism to play on the wings and the assist output to be a No. 10 when there is Arda Guler in the squad, there is that something about Brahim that makes him good for a squad role. He fights so hard for the badge, he can use both feet, and he squirms and slides his way into spaces in the box that make the others better. And that is the sort of character Mourinh does fall in love with.
For those dreaming of a Franco Mastantuono loan and a Brahim Diaz sale to help clear out space for Michael Olise or another dream Galactic on the right side, dream of another scenario, because it sounds like Jose likes the fighters he has - and it sounds like he sees Mastantuono like he sees Kylian Mbappe, a special talent he will get more out of than the others.
