In his prime, Jose Mourinho was completely unbeatable as a manager. There were games where his teams would look more solid than ever before, in the biggest of contests, and they would come out of the match unscathed.
In his early days, where his teams' defensive solidity was off the charts - combined with brilliant counter-attacking play - Mourinho's teams rarely lost that many games. Even in the last two seasons, although he managed 'lesser' teams than the ones in his prime, they still looked unbelievably solid at times.
Now, at Real Madrid once again, Mourinho is hoping to bring back his prime days, but be better than them at the same time. In fact, he is already close to breaking his own record that was set in his first Chelsea stint in 2005.

Mourinho's Chelsea, from 2004 to 2005, did not lose a single league game for 40 matches. That was an incredible stat, and now, he is three games away from beating it.
During his time at Fenerbahce, Benfica and, briefly, Real Madrid, Mourinho is on a run of 37 games without a single loss in the league. He finished the entirety of last season unbeaten with Benfica, and although he did not win the league, it was still an impressive feat.
There are some social media accounts that claim it is 38, but it actually is 37. He is unbeaten in three with Real Madrid, four with Fenerbahce, and 30 with Benfica.
Obviously, it will not mean as much as what he achieved with Chelsea, when he was winning the Premier League title with such high standards. And also because despite his success in this run, he wasn't able to win the league with Benfica or Fenerbahce - and also the fact that it is three different clubs.
However, for people who claim that Mourinho is finished as a manager, it is a good indication that, while he was not managing the best teams in the world, he still had a great record to show for it with those teams.
Now, Mourinho is back managing the best in the world. He is managing the most talented group in all of Europe in the hopes that they can go back to where they used to be in terms of greatness.
Mourinho is a good bet to cause a shift in mentality of these players, and hopefully, his own streak gets broken soon enough, and he is able to set a big one at Real Madrid, too.
