Even before Jose Mourinho became Real Madrid manager, he was full of praise for England national team hero Jude Bellingham during his time as an analyst, clearly infatuated with a person who shares his undying love of winning and obsession with being the best.
Bellingham is one of those players the entire English media got horribly wrong, and football legends are still baffled that some of those so called journalists were still saying that Thomas Tuchel should have left Jude sitting at home.
Clearly, nobody is saying that now, as Jude has scored back to back braces in the World Cup knockout stages to match records last set by Diego Armando Maradona and Pele - two of the greatest players of all time.
Jude Bellingham transcends the game
Real Madrid fans certainly need no convincing on the subject of Bellingham being one of the best players in the world, and they will love what Jose Mourinho said about what he is doing for England this summer at the World Cup.
Mourinho said of Jude, via Madrid Xtra, "Jude Bellingham is England's superhero. He scored the same amount of World Cup goals as Pelé at the same age. Midfielders control matches, Jude controls gravity."
It is a strong statement of effusive praise by Mourinho for Bellingham, but it is nothing out of the ordinary. And with so many reports from the Spanish press swirling about the conversations Jude Bellingham and the Portuguese manager are having behind the scenes, how close their rapport is becoming, and how excited they are to work together, the Mourinho praise falls exactly in line with those expectations of a massive 2026/27 season from Jude.
Back in 2023/24 when he first arrived at Real Madrid from Borussia Dortmund for 100 million euros that now looks like an even bigger bargain, Bellingham immediately established himself as a crucial player and nearly won the Pichichi from midfield while 100 percent winning both La Liga and the Champions League.
Real Madrid have been worse off since divesting from Bellingham as a center of the team, while England have become better since embracing the 23 year old No. 10. As Mourinho praises Bellingham and tells the world that he controls more than just the match and transcends the game, Madridistas can only agree with that statement, thinking back to the 2023/24 season, and will be excited to see more that coming at the Santiago Bernabeu.
