Kylian Mbappe became a symbol of the problems at Real Madrid last season, and after fans watched PSG hoist the Champions League title for a second straight season while their own beloved Merengues went trophyless for a second campaign in a row, the tensions with Mbappe reached a boiling point during his act of insubordination against Alvaro Arbeloa and the entire squad following a win over Real Oviedo.

Florentino Perez hired Jose Mourinho to work with the superstars in the squad and to finally be the one to turn Mbappe into the team player that Luis Enrique had demanded all the way back at PSG. At the same time, the Madridistas fed up with Mbappe were also wondering, in the back of their mind, if a powerful manager like Mourinho with the respect of Perez backing him could potentially give Mbappe the boot if he does not get on the same page.

Mourinho, though, is a man who always relishes the challenge and always wants to work with the biggest stars in the sport. And so often throughout his career, he has been the one to get those players to perform for the team.

Jose Mourinho wants Real Madrid to be a team

Speaking in an interview with the Beast Mode On podcast, Jose Mourinho confirmed that he has no intention of getting rid of the players who supposedly caused problems last year. Instead, he wants to work with the best players and sees his task as getting them to play within the team. Based on the language he used in his remarks, it's pretty clear he is talking about Mbappe, given Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham had already won Champions Leagues - and the likes of Alvaro Carreras are not, well, you know, big players.

Mourinho said, I read that people were saying José Mourinho will come to Real Madrid and cut the players who supposedly had problems last season. No. I want these players. I want the best players. Now I have to find a way to make them a team.”

Not only is Mourinho making it crystal clear that he is here to back players like Kylian Mbappe at Real Madrid and turn them into team players, but, honestly, this is the best possible outcome Madridistas could hope for and the best stance they could hear their manager take.

A Real Madrid with an Mbappe in full flow and playing in a team setup is the best possible scenario, and we are seeing that briefly at the World Cup thus far for France. Mourinho isn't here to be an ego of his own or cut people off; he is here to win.
